1. The Strategy: Know What You Want
Before prompting SuperCool, you must define the four core elements of your site to ensure the AI creates a functional tool rather than a generic placeholder:
Purpose: Is it a portfolio, store, or landing page?
Audience: Who are you speaking to?
Tone: Should it be minimal, bold, or personal?
Structure: Which specific sections (Home, About, Gallery, Contact) do you need?
2. Crafting a Powerful First SuperCool Prompt
Your first prompt acts as a creative brief. To get the best results, include these five ingredients:
Identity: State the site name and brand.
Visual Style: Describe colors, mood, and layout (e.g., "minimal and modern with a dark background").
Specific Sections: Explicitly list every page needed.
Copy Tone: Instruct the AI on how the writing should feel.
Call to Action (CTA): State the one clear action you want visitors to take.
Example Prompt: "Build a portfolio website for a photographer named Sara. The brand is called Sara Shoots. The design should be minimal and modern with a dark near-black background, white text, and soft gold accents. The layout should feel spacious. The site needs: a full-screen hero section with a tagline, a gallery section, an About Me page with a short bio, and a contact form. The copy should feel warm and personal... The main call to action should be 'Book a Session.'"
3. Reviewing and Surgical Editing
Once SuperCool generate it, review your site using the live preview link. To make changes without breaking the rest of the design, use the Surgical Editing Rule:
The Rule: "[Specific change]. Keep everything else the same".
Example: "Rewrite the homepage headline to feel more emotional and cinematic. Keep everything else the same".
4. SuperCool Advanced Design Control
You can refine the visual details of your site using specific prompts for:
Typography: Change headline fonts to specific styles like "elegant and serif".
Layout: Adjust white space between specific sections.
Animations: Add subtle effects like "fade-in" when images load.
Mobile Optimization: Ensure text is centered and readable on smaller screens.
5. How to Add Your Custom Domain to SuperCool
Once the design is finished, connecting a domain requires no prompting.
Step 1: Open Your Site Settings in SuperCool – After your website is built, SuperCool will display a message in the chat: "Manage custom domains and settings from the gear icon above". Click the gear icon at the top of the interface to open your site management panel.
Step 2: Add Your Domain – In the settings window, look for the Add Domain button. Type in the domain you own (e.g., sarashoots.com) and click Add.
Step 3: Get Your DNS Records – SuperCool will immediately generate a blue box containing the exact records you need to copy. You will typically see an A Record pointing your root domain to the SuperCool server.
Step 4: Update Your Domain Provider – Log in to your domain registrar (like GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Google Domains) and navigate to the DNS Management or Advanced DNS section.
Step 5: Copy and Paste – Add the record exactly as shown in the SuperCool panel.
Step 6: Verification – Once saved in your registrar, your SuperCool settings will confirm the link. Note that it may take some time for the internet to update its records (propagation).
After adding records, you will see a "Verification Pending" status.
NS propagation usually takes 15 minutes but can take up to 48 hours.
The Most Common Fix: If your domain isn't connecting after 48 hours, check your CNAME Host field if you are using one. Ensure it says
wwwand not your full domain name (likesarashoots.com). This single character difference is the #1 reason for connection failures.Refresh Updates: For continued updates during the process, you may need to refresh your browser or force quit your preview app to see the latest changes.
