Step 1: Initialize Your Mobile Build
To ensure your famous.ai project is built with the correct mobile architecture, you must select the proper mode before prompting:
Select Mobile Mode: Click the Phone Icon in the bottom right corner of the prompt box to activate the mobile app engine.
Prompt Your Idea: Describe your app's functionality in the chat (e.g., "Create a fitness tracking app with a workout log and progress charts").
Build: Hit the arrow button and let the Synthetic Intelligence generate your mobile-optimized code and interface.
Pro Tip: How to Write a Great Mobile App Prompt
The best mobile apps focus on doing a few things exceptionally well. When writing your prompt, be specific about the features you need. Here are a few examples to get you started:
For a Productivity App:
"Create a clean, minimalist habit-tracking app. Users should be able to add daily habits, check them off, and view a weekly progress chart. Use a dark mode UI with neon green accents."
For an E-commerce App:
"Build a boutique clothing store app. Include a scrollable product feed on the home screen, a search bar, a shopping cart, and a user profile page. Keep the design elegant and use plenty of white space."
For a Social App:
"Design a community app for local dog owners. It needs a feed where users can post photos, a map view to find nearby dog parks, and a direct messaging feature. Use a friendly, vibrant color palette."
Step 2: Iterations and Adding Features
Your first build is just the starting point! Once Famous.ai generates the initial version of your app, you will likely want to tweak the design, add new screens, or build out more complex features.
You can do all of this directly in the builder canvas using the AI chat on the left side of your screen.
How to Iterate Effectively:
Be Specific About the Location: Always tell the AI exactly which screen and section you want to change. (e.g., "On the Home Screen, change the top navigation bar color to black.")
Add New Screens: You can ask the AI to build entirely new views. (e.g., "Add a 'Settings' screen where users can toggle push notifications and update their password.")
Introduce New Functionality: Ask Famous.ai to wire up new features to your app. (e.g., "Add a favorite button to the product cards. When a user taps the heart, save that item to a new 'Saved Items' screen.")
Upload Screenshots: If you see a layout you like in another app, take a screenshot, upload it into the Famous.ai chat, and ask the AI to match that style.
Step 3: Previewing on a Physical Device
A key distinction for mobile projects in Famous.ai is the ability to test them on an actual phone rather than just a web sandbox.
Using Expo Go for Real-Time Testing:
Install Expo Go: Download the Expo Go app on your mobile device from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Open Device Menu: In the header of your Famous.ai project, click the Device button.
Scan the QR Code: A modal will appear displaying a unique QR code. Open the Expo Go app on your phone and scan this code.
View Your App: Your application will open on your mobile phone in a development environment, allowing you to see exactly how it looks and feels on a real device.
Note: This preview remains active for 6 hours. For continued updates after that time, force quit Expo Go and scan a new QR code from the Device menu.
Step 4: Publishing to App Stores
Famous.ai simplifies the complex process of submitting to official stores.
Single-Click Submission: Click the blue Publish button in the top right corner of the interface.
Guided Modal: A modal will pop up to guide you through the necessary steps to submit your app to both the iOS App Store and the Android Google Play Store.
Launch: With one click, Famous.ai handles the heavy lifting of the submission process for you.
(Note: Before you can successfully publish, you will need an active Apple Developer and Google Play Console accounts. Check out our "How to Publish Your Mobile App" guide for the full pre-flight checklist!)
